These terms govern your use of HelocPilot (helocpilot.com). By using the site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the site. We’ve kept the legalese to the minimum that does the job — but these terms do matter, so read them.

1. What this site is — and isn’t

HelocPilot publishes informational and educational content about home equity products: articles, explainers, calculators, and comparisons. That content is provided for general information only.

It is not financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. Nothing on this site is tailored to your personal circumstances, and nothing here should be treated as a recommendation to take out, refinance, or avoid any particular loan. Before making decisions about borrowing against your home, consider consulting a qualified professional who can review your actual situation.

2. No lender relationship

HelocPilot is a publisher. We are not a lender, mortgage broker, or loan originator. We do not take loan applications, extend credit, arrange loans, or act on your behalf in any transaction. Using this site creates no lending, brokerage, advisory, or fiduciary relationship between you and us. Any loan you pursue is a transaction between you and the lender you choose, governed entirely by that lender’s terms.

3. Accuracy and third-party rates

We work hard to keep our content accurate and current, and our Editorial Policy describes how. But rates, fees, and product terms set by lenders change constantly and are outside our control. We make no guarantee that any third-party rate, fee, or term described on this site is accurate, complete, or available to you.

Always verify current rates and terms directly with the lender before applying or signing anything. The lender’s own disclosures — not this site — are the authoritative statement of what you’re being offered.

4. Intellectual property

The content on HelocPilot — articles, calculators, graphics, and the site’s design — is owned by HelocPilot and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may read, share links to, and quote brief excerpts of our content with attribution. You may not republish, scrape, or commercially reproduce substantial portions of the site without our prior written permission.

5. Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the site. That includes attempting to disrupt its operation, circumventing security measures, scraping content at scale, or using the site for any unlawful purpose. We may restrict access for misuse.

6. Third-party links

This site links to third parties, including lenders and affiliate partners (see How We Make Money). Those links are provided for convenience and context. A link is not an endorsement. We don’t control third-party sites, we aren’t responsible for their content, products, or privacy practices, and your dealings with them are solely between you and them.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Your use of the site is at your own risk.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HelocPilot and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost savings, or losses arising from financial decisions you make — resulting from your use of, or inability to use, this site or its content. To the extent any liability is found despite the above, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HelocPilot and its operator from claims arising out of your violation of these terms or your misuse of the site.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the effective date above. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
